Hardly had the ban on the Muslim beens lifted when the prophet received a shock at the death of Khadija and Abu Talib. In the 10th year of his mission, he lost his wife, Khadija, who was followed five weeks later by Au Talbib to the grave. For twenty-five years Khadija had been his counselor and support, and now his heath and home were desolate. Though the place of Khadija could be filled by her numerous successors, ‘her devotion and virtues might not be rivaled.’ But the death of his youth and in late life a tower of defense made him quite helpless at that critical moment of his career.
